{"id":3860,"date":"2015-12-08T06:06:26","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T11:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/?p=3860"},"modified":"2016-01-10T08:14:15","modified_gmt":"2016-01-10T13:14:15","slug":"screw-brand-search-visibility-case-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/screw-brand-search-visibility-case-study\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Screw Up A Brand Search Visibility &#8211; Case Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you might have noticed, our site <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Ready Marketing<\/a> has been going through iterations to discuss more specific SEO topics that our users\u00a0are really challenged with.<\/p>\n<p>As a part of that changes, the title tag of the site was changed to &#8220;<a title=\"Rank 1st page on Google without Backlink Building\" href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rank a Site Without Backlink Building | Digital Ready Marketing<\/a>&#8221; from simply &#8220;<a title=\"Rank 1st page on Google without Backlink Building\" href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Digital Ready Marketing<\/a>&#8221; sometime between November 10th and November 17th.<\/p>\n<p>This has increased the title characters across the entire site. As you can see from the screenshot below, &#8220;Rank a Site Without Backlink Building&#8221; is not placed before our brand &#8220;Digital ready Marketing&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rank-a-website-without-backlinks-comes-first.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3862 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rank-a-website-without-backlinks-comes-first.png\" alt=\"rank a website without backlinks comes first\" width=\"554\" height=\"436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rank-a-website-without-backlinks-comes-first.png 554w, https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rank-a-website-without-backlinks-comes-first-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rank-a-website-without-backlinks-comes-first-65x50.png 65w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you might know, Title tag is one of the most important ranking factors that Google looks at. Additional, the position of the keyword within the title tag also is a ranking factor.<\/p>\n<p>So what we did essentially was to tell Google that not only the term &#8220;Digital Ready Marketing&#8221; was not that important (since now it&#8217;s at the end of the Title tag), we also made the title across the site spammy because now\u00a0&#8220;Rank a Site Without Backlink Building&#8221; appears everywhere!<\/p>\n<p>As a result, our site stopped ranking for the brand term &#8220;Digital ready Marketing&#8221;! This is bad&#8230;. so bad. The screen shot below shows digitalready.co is ranking for #1 position.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/bran-term-digital-ready-marketing.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3861 size-full alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/bran-term-digital-ready-marketing.png\" alt=\"bran term digital ready marketing\" width=\"517\" height=\"636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/bran-term-digital-ready-marketing.png 517w, https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/bran-term-digital-ready-marketing-244x300.png 244w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is just a perfect case study to show why <strong>Title tag is such an important factor<\/strong> and why we use it as a part of our <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/rank-website-page-google-building-backlinks\/\" target=\"_blank\">keyword difficulty checking process<\/a>\u00a0and seeing many substantial successes with it. (<a href=\"https:\/\/digitalreadymarketing.com\/targeting-low-search-volume-keywords-good-thing-case-study\/\" target=\"_blank\">here is an example<\/a>\u00a0in case you are interested.)<\/p>\n<p>Have you seen other websites making similar mistake?
